ISHAQZAADE MOVIE REVIEW
One kingdom…one throne…two fierce animals! A battle…slaps…revenge…elopes…forgiveness…
This is the plot of Habib Faisal directed ‘Ishaqzaade’. We remember
Shakespeare’s Capulet’s and Montague’s, while we browse our eyes on the screen
for the film. The movie portrays a small town Almore, (in Uttar Pradesh) and
two bloodthirsty families – the Chauhans and the Quereshis. The families are
indulged in political rivalry for supremacy in the town. The enmity is
engrossed in each and every member of the rival families. “Tu Chhipkali…Tu
Saala Kutta” are the frequent utters heard while the leads are kids. As they
grow up, they sore to eye. The two are born to hate but destined to love.
The cantankerous Parma Chauhan (Arjun Kapoor) is an
arrogant, rude, stubborn guy of the Chauhan family who can do anything to make
his grandfather happy. He loves to flex his muscles and boast his family name.
On the opposite side is Zoya Quereshi (Parineeti Chopra), an intelligent,
frisky girl belonging to a political Muslim family. She is outraged, ready to
bite the bullet! She aims to become MLA someday like her father.
The Chauhans and the Querishis are political rivals and can
fight even on diesel cans and the notch girl Chand Bibi (Gauhar Khan). Their
fights often lead to the bullet chases in the daylight too.
Disguised in a violent love story, Ishaqzaade reveals a
message of honor killing.
The love-to-hate relationship between the two blocks of
Almore goes headstrong when Parma and his cousins Dharma and Karma, hinder a
party at the Querishi mansion and oomph away with notch girl Chand Bibi (Gauhar
Khan). To avenge this Zoya slaps Param in front of her entire college.
Soon he falls for the girl and bills and coos for her
retaliation, which after some time, she does. The two secretly tie the knots
and indulge into a night’s pleasure. Habib has here very successfully added the
twist when Parma abandons Zoya and claims his deed as his revenge for the slap.
He even reveals her photographs getting married in a Hindu way, without showing
his face… of course! to every cell phone in the town. This brings a bad fame to
the Querishis, who loose their election seat to their rivals.
Zoya’s father finishes all the terms and relations with his
daughter. Meanwhile Zoya elopes from her home in order to shoot Parma to death.
What happens next? Does she actually shoot him to take her revenge? What
happens to both the rival families?
Well, coming to the script writing which was penned down by
Aditya Chopra and Habib Faisal is amazing. They have done full justice to the
screenplay. Their age old concept of a love story with rival families and with
a twist was well acceptable. The first half is all engaging and full of
suspense and surprises but as you heed towards the second half, the plotline
loses interest. The angle of Hindu-Muslim enmity has very exploited very well.
The dialogues need a special mention.
The chemistry between Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra is
flawless and awe inspiring. Arjun Kapoor has done an incredible job as a debut.
He delivers his dialogues well and dances delightfully. Parineeti Chopra is as
charming as she was in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl or I must say, way better!
The music is a must mention of the film. Lyrics by Habib
Faisal and Kausar Munir are fine. Ranjit Barot’s background score is awesome. Choreography
of Chinni Prakash and Rekha Chinni Prakash is a pleasure to watch. Action scenes
created by Shyam Kaushal are realistic.
On the whole, Ishaqzaade makes an entertaining watch. It is
no wastage of your fares (sic). A love story with a twist is a rare concept in
Bollywood and this is one of them. So go for it!

DANGEROUS ISHQ MOVIE REVIEW...
Thriller genre movies always attracted flocks to the theatres. But this time it was not just a thriller. Dangerous Ishq was titled as Karisma’s big comeback. This fact attracted people more than just the genre of the movie. After the release, we can say that the flick cannot be called the ‘big’ comeback of the actress.
DANGEROUS ISHQ is a thriller based upon the past life regression. It could not manage to impress the audience to the extent that it had promised to.
As the title depicts, DANGEROUS ISHQ is a complicated love story of Sanjana (Karisma Kapoor), a super model and her love interest, son of a business tycoon, Rohan (Rajneish Duggal). The model gets a chance to explore new heights as a great opportunity comes her way, but she refuses it because her love for Rohan is more than anything else. The two decide to tie the knots when Rohan is kidnapped and Sanjana is hospitalized due to an injury on her forehead. The police officer here ACP Jai Singh (Jimmy Shergill) hints that Rohan might not be released by giving just the money asked by the kidnappers. Meanwhile, Sanjana finds some clues for Rohan’s release in her past life. She goes for past life regression and helps ACP to find Rohan with her instincts. Will Sanjana succeed in her mission? What connection does she find with Rohan in her previous four phases? What leads to her so many deaths and births, is the rest of the story.
The plotline has been excellently used by Vikram Bhatt to smoothly connect Sanjana’s past lives and present life. The suspense at frequent intervals leaves one thrilled.
Karisma is good and has justifiably done her role but the bad part of her character is her dialogues which could have been worked upon a little more. Her wardrobe as a model in the film was not at all justified. She is made to wear high heels in running and escaping scenes. Inspite of this, Karisma is as powerful and confident as always. Rajneish Duggal plays his part well. Jimmy Shergill surprises us same as he did in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster bit fails to bind his charm by the end.
Directoe Vikram Bhatt, this time has been able to do well by attaining perfection in terms of portraying different eras with sets, costumes, accessories and linguistics.
The film’s movie is not good enough. It may not be called the chartbusters.
On the whole, Dangerous Ishq is one with flawless acting by Karisme Kapoor, intelligent editing and a crisp direction. But it turns painful in the second half, with loose cinematography at places and weak music.

JANNAT 2 MOVIE REVIEW.......
Kunal Deshmukh directed Jannat 2, was said to be the sequel
of 2008 release Jannat, but had anything related to its prequel. This does not
mean that the movieis not worth a watch. No! This is a must watch movie. All
through the movie it seems Nicolas Cage’s ‘Lord of War’ is present somewhere in
the background. The plot of the movie revolves around arms trafficking, the way
the lead gets through all this and wins his love forever. The climax is quite
predictable.
A street smart punk Sonu Dilli KKC i.e. Kutti Kamini Cheez
(Emraan Hashmi) is into a business (which he calls ‘bi-ness’) of selling and
renting guns illegally. His motto behind this is that “people kill each other
with any weapon they find, I just make their task a bit easier.” For the first
time, perhaps, a Hindi movie explores the precarious issue with a stimulating
romance elegantly interlaced in the narrative. Apart from being a protagonist
in the film, Emraan is also the chronicler of the film as the movie is narrated
from his point of view. ACP Pratap (Randeep Hooda) is a stern cop who aims to
get to the roots of nexus of arms racket. He compels Sonu to convert into his
informer by threatening him by all ways and to go deeper into the web of
smuggling so that the cop may reach the king of all this. Sonu does accordingly
although unwillingly. Meanwhile, our hero falls in love with Jhanvi (Esha
Gupta) at the very first sight. Jhanvi is a doctor. Further the plot moves on
as for how Sonu tries to mislead the cop without telling him the true
information and at the same time winning the biggest mafia of that world Mangal
Singh Tomar (Manish Chaudhry), happened to be the father of Jhanvi, whom she
hates.
Jannat 2 is a fabulous album with Pritam giving a rich soundtrack. As
far as characters are concerned, no one but Emraan could have delivered the
role so well. He fitted just apt in the role. Randeep Hooda gives another
knockout performance in this. Debutante Esha Gupta captivates the audience with
her charm.
On the whole, Jannat 2 has a major mass appeal. The film has a
persuasive message to transport. An incredibly compelling film on a solemn
issue.
