BARFI GIRL ILENA D'CRUZ'S INTERVIEW...........

Ileana D'Cruz is ready to make her foray into Bollywood with UTV Motion Pictures' Barfi! In her first ever interview since she took on the Anurag Basu project with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, the actress gets talking about her journey from being a model to an actress to her first step into Bollywood.

Being a Mumbai girl, you started your career down south...
You can call me a Mumbai girl since I have spent the first ten years of my life here. Then I shifted to Goa where I got my first modelling break.

We believe it was Rakesh Roshan who gave you the first break...
It was for an advertisement that gave me a lot of exposure. And films followed. I actually never wanted to get into modelling either. I was a complete tomboy. You'd never see me wearing skirts. I happened to meet Marc Robinson in Goa. He felt I could be a good model. So, I gave it a shot.

While working down south, wasn't the language a barrier?
It wasn't easy. I was only 18 years old when I started acting. The language was alien to me. I kept my fingers crossed and did my best. I thought my film would be a disaster but it did well. Then Pokkiri happened. And there was no looking back.

How did Bollywood happen?
Barfi! just came along. Anurag was looking for me and a common friend introduced us. I came and met him. One hour into the meeting and he told me that he has found his Shruti. I however, took some time.I don't have a Godfather who would tell me what to do. Neither do I have a filmi background. I just did what I felt was right.

People say it's a dark film...
It is a romantic film and it is a commercial film. It is not dark or serious. Yes, Ranbir is playing a deaf and mute character. But it's entertaining. Since the film is set in the 1970s, it has an amazing look. It is surely an offer that will never come to me again.

Did Priyanka and you really fight on the sets of the film...
I won't say we are good friends but we haven't fought for sure. We get along well. Pee Cee is an amazing person.

How was it working with Ranbir?
He is a really nice guy. I have been a fan of his work. I don't know how he has managed to play a deaf and mute person in the film. But he has done it very well. He is definitely the best co-star I have had.

VICKY DONOR MOVIE REVIEW.......

Rating: 3 STARS
Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam, Annu Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia, Kamlesh Gill
Direction: Shoojit Sircar
Genre: Comedy
Duration: 2 hours

Vicky Doner is a small movie, where John Abraham debuts as a producer.

The story revolves around Vicky(Ayushmann Khurrana) who is unemployed and is constantly being nagged by his loud and over-the-top mother(Dolly Ahluwalia). In the meanwhile, fertility expert Dr. Chaddha (played by Annu Kapoor), is looking for a perfect sperm donor and finds Vicky. He convinces Vicky to make a better use of his ‘wasted’ sperms. Eventually Vicky is the biological dad of 53 healthy children.

Vicky finds his love of life in Ashima Roy [Yami Gautam], a pretty Bengali girl, who works in a bank. But soon Vicky’s world collapses because of his past as a donor. The rest of the movie about how Vicky manages to get his life on track.

The director of the movie Shoojit Sircar successfully balances between comedy and the concept of the story. Its engaging in the first half for its comedy and in second half for the twist. The movie never enters into vulgarity considering the issue it focuses on, and that’s the reason it works. Special mention for the screenplay, by Juhi Chaturvedi, who penned down it to perfection.

Its a dream debut for Ayushmann Khurrana and he inches into perfection. Ayushmann plays the character of Vicky smoothly and you get a feeling that he is natural. Its a treat to watch him on screen. The lady love of Vicky played by television actress Yami Gautam is lovable on screen. She acts well, has strong screen presence and looks beautiful.

The supporting cast of Vicky Donor are worth mentioning also. Annu Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia, Kamlesh Gill are superb.

On the whole, Vicky Donor is really an entertaining watch and kudos to John Abrahamn for taking a subject like this. Just go for it this weekend and you wont be disappointed.

HATE STORY MOVIE REVIEW ......

Hate Story Movie ReviewRating: 2 STARS
Cast: Paoli Dam, Gulshan Devaiah, Nikhil Dwivedi
Direction: Vivek Agnihotri
Genre: Drama, Thriller

Ok, we know sex sells. But now a days the viewers of India are changing. They want some logic in the story also. For instance ‘The Dirty Picture’. There was passion, double meaning dialogues, erotic scenes but with power packed performances and more importantly a story, which helped the movie to reach-out to masses.

Hate Story movie revolves around Kaavya (Paoli Dam), a middle class journalist. Fate forces her to become a sex worker to seek revenge from Siddharth (Gulshan Devaiah). To achieve her target she uses everyone who are close to Siddharth. Kaavya’s friend Vicky (Nikhil Dwivedi) secretly loves her but her sexual revenge path affects him as well as Kaavya’s family.

The problem with Hate Story is its story. There are so many instances where one wonders why? Why she has to become a sex worker to take revenge, instead of taking any other way ? Even the approaches to she makes to have sexual relationships with those who are close to Siddharth, is debatable. The story jumps in parts instead of following a smooth flow. The ending also makes you think why ?

Director Vivek Agnihotri tries his best to keep the audience engage. But its the faulty script that lets down.

Though the songs go well with the story but its not worth to remember afterwards.

Paoli Dam who had won acclaim for her performances in Bengali films makes a bold debut in Bollywood with Hate Story. Though she confidently plays her character but her future in Bollywood is still a question mark. Gulshan Devaiah plays his negative character well.

On the whole this movie belongs to only some section of audience. From the promos its clear that its a bold movie. So be prepared for the vulgarity. Wish the script had been a little tighter. Two stars for this movie.
