Stars and How Their Moms Influence Them

There’s a pretty famous saying “Behind every successful man is a woman” and more often than not, it is the mother who is the reason behind a successful man.

And it is equally true for all the super successful ladies out there. Some of our Bollywood stars are influenced by their mothers quite heavily. Here are some of them:

Salman says that whichever female he has dated or will ever date will pale in comparison to his mother as she is the loveliest person in his life. In fact, despite being 40+, he still lives next to his mother and swears by her cooking. He is so influenced by his mother that he expects the women in his life to give up everything and be at home wives just like his mother was. Probably that’s the reason why he’s still single.

Babita can easily be termed as one of the most influential mother in Bollywood. Babita boldly decided to end her marriage with Randhir, a decision no weak-hearted woman could make especially in those years. Post that she focused all her attention on raising her two daughters, Karisma and Kareena. She is known to have a huge influence over the career paths of her two mega star daughters & does everything a notorious Bollywood mother is known to do – accompanying them on film shoots and dance shows, deciding what films they should do, approving their costumes, lobbying to get meaty roles for her daughters etc. Although these tactics gave her a bad name in Bollywood, she certainly had and has only the best interests of her daughters in mind. In fact if both her daughters are famous actresses today is because Babita fought for them to enter the film industry, something Randhir was totally against.

Everyone says that Ranbir’s a mama's boy and he proudly admits it too. According to him, she is the only one who knows what’s happening in his life & loves him unconditionally. In fact Neetu is so involved in her son’s life that she reportedly approves of the women he dates too. Maybe the reason behind Ranbir’s not-giving-a-damn attitude is because he is only answerable to his parents and with a mother as supportive as Neetu, there’s no reason to be afraid of your actions.

John is quite a mama’s boy and credits her with making him what he is today. He says that that it is she who’s taught him values like diversity, broadmindedness and grit. He mentioned in one of his interviews that he acquired his sporting courage also from his mother. Moreover John is also involved in a lot of philanthropy & charity since his mother has a charity of her own which she is quite passionate about.

Hema Malini, Bollywood’s dream girl, is one of the most famous actresses in Indian Cinema. She is also a professional Bharatnatyam dancer. She has two daughters, Esha & Aahana with Bollywood’s Iron Man, Dharmendra. Though Esha hasn’t been able to taste even half as much success as her mother, Hema didn’t hesitate to pull strings to get whatever roles she could for her daughter. She is even credited to make sure that Esha learnt to dance like her mother and gave her all the freedom once she joined the industry.

Abhishek credits his mom with giving him values that have made him a grounded and a good human being. In fact he goes as far as saying that the value system that he’s got from his parents is the reason behind his successful marriage to Aishwarya Rai.

Anushka made a dream debut with Yash Raj Films and that too opposite Shahrukh Khan. But little did everyone know how much her mother was to be credited for that. It was her mother who had always dreamt of her debuting with YRF and had kept her wish written inside the Feng Shui tortoise. Anushka got to know about it only after she won the role; after her mother’s prayers got answered.

Kajol hails from a family that has a dynamic history in Indian Cinema. Kajol is the daughter of famous Marathi/Hindi actress, Tanuja. Her mom, aunt Nutan and grandmom Shobhana Samarth have all been influential figures in Bollywood. Kajol credits her mother with teaching her the importance of family, a fact seen in her decisions of getting married at the peak of her career and taking a break from acting after
becoming a mother.

The Badshaah of Bollywood compares his late mom to a fighter. SRK’s mom single-handedly brought him and his sister up. He mentions that although his mom was very domesticated initially she took complete control after his father's death. She looked after their transport business. He says that his mother was the strongest lady he has ever seen in his life. Maybe that’s the reason why SRK is still the reigning king of Bollywood, a spot his ‘fighter’ attitude got him.

Sushmita is generally considered to be an independent and a strong-headed woman. But that wouldn’t have been possible without the support of her mother. Her mother is the one who encouraged her during her modelling days. Even when Ash was the hot favourite for the Miss Universe pageant, it was Sushmita’s mother who supported and encouraged her to not lose her heart and this gave her the confidence to win the coveted title.

Mothers are considered only next to God and rightly so. They are always concerned about our well-being and only want the best for us. And these filmy mummies are no less.
